Big Mountain Enduro Crested Butte Maps Released
Big news came in today. Course maps and details for the Big Mountain Enduro Crested Butte, Colorado Ultra Enduro have been released into the wild. The race, the first of it’s kind in the US, starts Wednesday morning and continues through Sunday. This race will also mark the return of international enduro star Jerome Clementz to racing. Curtis Keene will also be in attendance, as well as a huge cast of characters with international and Enduro World Series race experience. Expect to see Marco Osborne, Nate Hills, Chris Johnston of Nomads fame, Ben Cruz, Jeremy Horgan-Kobelski and Heather Irmiger. Enduro Mountainbike Magazine will be on site for the whole shebang, posting daily updates with lots of killer photos. Check back every day to see who is flying, and who is crashing. This is going to be one brutal race, with over 100 miles of total pedaling, and altitudes over 12,000 feet.
The Yeti Cycles Big Mountain Enduro presented by Shimano is excited to announce courses for the Crested Butte Ultra Enduro, September 3-7. Our five-day inaugural event will blend high altitude backcountry adventures mixed with most of the biggest descents in the area.
Riders will be challenged with five days of racing, four of those days deep in the backcountry, with big climbing transitions that will literally take you to the top of the world overlooking majestic peaks. The fifth and final day of racing will be held at Evolution Bike Park, also where awards and festivities will culminate. This will be a stand alone event and not a part of the Big Mountain Enduro Series overall rankings.
Most backcountry stages will start around 9,000 feet in elevation, some days climbing and topping out above 12,500 feet, so get your lungs (and cameras) ready. Plan for full days on the bike and big mileage, where you’ll need to be relatively self-supported and capable of navigating maps in remote areas. This event will encompass a heavy pro field and the largest cash payout of any 2014 Big Mountain Enduro event.
