Enduro mountain bike racing is coming to Steamboat Springs, CO this summer. The inaugural Enduro-X Race Series, presented by Steamboat, is scheduled for June 15-16 and August 17-18. Courses will feature Steamboat Bike Park terrain and the mountain’s cross-country single track trails.

The Enduro-X Race Series is a multi-day, multi-stage gravity-oriented racing format includes a total of eight enduro stages over four days. Pro-Open, Amateur, Master, and Junior men and women can choose to race by the day, weekend or series. Pro-Open categories will complete for a minimum $5500.00 cash purse.

“The popularity of Enduro racing is increasing at an unbelievable rate and the time is right to host a series in Steamboat. The new technically demanding trails of Steamboat’s Bike Park will challenge racers skills and fitness,” said David Scully, Enduro-X race director and event promoter. “Community support has been tremendous. I have high hopes for this summer and look to expand the Enduro-X Series in 2014.”

The Enduro-X Series kicks off with the Rawhide Enduro on June 15, followed by the Rustlers Ridge Enduro on June 16th. Races start at the top of the Steamboat Gondola, with each course descending more than 2000 vertical feet.

The Sunshine Enduro on August 17 begins with a mass start to the Sunshine cross-country trail and descends approximately 3000 feet to the base of the mountain. Sunday’s Thunderhead Challenge highlights upper and lower Rawhide (lower Rawhide scheduled to be completed in early August) and Rustlers Ridge with a grand total of 4000 vertical feet in elevation loss. Online registration is now open and beginning immediately, a limited number of discounted entries are being offered a $40.00 discount off a weekend or series registration. Pro/Open, Amateur, Masters, and Juniors (17-18 yrs.) are eligible to receive the discount. Discount code Enduro-X$40, must be entered at time of registration and is limited to fifty individual registrations.

In addition to the racing action, each weekend offers a variety of events and activities for competitors kids, and spectators. The June weekend includes: dual slalom bike race, pump track jam and Strider race for the kids; the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club host their annual bike swap; a bike fest with vendors; The Bike Town USA Dual SL fundraiser competition; Savor Steamboat, an afternoon of music, food, drink and ranchers. The August Enduro-X races are part of Steamboat Bike Week: races (Steamboat Stinger, Steamboat Triathlon, USA Pro Challenge); bike-in movie; bike polo; BMX; Trials; casual rides; charity rides; bike art festival; and street parties.
