Something strange is going on! The entire bike industry has descended on the small industrial town of Friedrichshafen, on the shore of Lake Constance. With 14 huge halls filled with every conceivable bike product, EUROBIKE 2016 is the place to be if you love bikes.
EUROBIKE – one hell of a show
EUROBIKE is like nothing you’ve ever see, after 25 years of growth it now fills more than 100,000 square meters, almost 14 football pitches. Each meter is packed full of bikes, accessories and some pure randomness, 46,000 trade visitors, 1,700 journalists and around 35,000 bike fans will pass by in this quarter centenary year. Electric bikes and scooters whizz past,deals are done and companies find out if they can cut it in the competitive world of cycling. A view from the air gives a little perspective on this demonstration of the power of the humble bike and the industry it supports.
Hope Tech 35W rims
Wide rims and higher volume tires are the future, and Hope have introduced a new 6061 aluminium rim to keep up with the new trend. The Hope 35W is unsurprisingly 35 mm wide (internal) and by re-profiling the rim to a single cavity they are only marginally heavier – at 580 g – than the current Hope Tech Enduro rim. The eyeletted rim will be available from November in 27.5” and will accept tires from 2.3 – 3 inches.
