UK based Royal Racing have always been at the forefront of the grassroots British race and riding scene, worn by none other than world MTB legend Steve Peat himself. They’ve always been pretty out there in their designs of the kit, with a unique eye-catching logo favored by riders worldwide who like to stand out. We have just received some items of their latest range and our test riders are currently putting them through their paces in the very unpredictable British weather. The choice of options of the Royal Racing kit is great, consumers can just mix and match the various different types of kit to suit their needs.

Stage Jersey

This Stage Jersey, aptly named after the term stage in Enduros, has been designed with a tailored fit, bang in the middle of too tight and too loose. The snug feel of this jersey seems pretty good for long days in the saddle, plus the light fabric aids keeping you cool. This kit is available in either black/white or lime/graphite. Out tester likes the fit of this jersey, as it is loose enough to not feel tight and restrictive, but tight enough not to ride up the back under your backpack.

Stage Short

These shorts really have been a favorite of our test rider, with light-weight being their main plus point, along with their more tailored enduro-style slim fit. The waterproof audio pocket for your phone with cable routing is a great idea and the slash venting is a real must for those hotter days in the saddle. The short is available in black/white or graphite/lime.

Core Gloves

The Core glove is classed as Royal’s ‘entry level’ glove, thin light-weight and priced to suit those on more of a budget, but still sporting a micro-fiber thumb wipe and great palm grip. When we say these things are light, we aren’t kidding, without any kind of thick cuff material or palm padding you hardly know you have them on, Our only issue with these super-thin style gloves is just how long they last before the material goes through at the seams; only time will tell! These are available in a wider range of colours

Our test rider has so far been very impressed with the kit’s performance in the varying UK weather, the kit has been washed at 40 degrees and has still retained it’s original colour so far. Also the fit and feel of the shorts have remained the same, without any annoying stretching or wear after a couple of months.
