Ghost bikes are coming in hot this year with the new Ghost Factory Racing RIOT Team consisting of four members who all ride the new Ghost PathRIOT enduro race bike. If you want to know what we think of the bike, head over to our article ‘Racing with the Ghost PathRIOT‘. During the testing of the PathRIOT we had a chance to meet the three guys and one girl and talk about their plans for 2016.

Michal Prokop, Franzi Meyer, Tobi Müller and Kevin Maderegger are all in for 2016, with full support from their team manager Thomas Wickles and mechanic Martin Mühlegger they head to all the important enduro races this season.

Michal Prokop

Multiple fourcross world champion and already successful enduro racer Michal Prokop is one of the new team members. Last year he started racing enduro and was able to win the SSES overall. Riding with Michal on very technical terrain made it obvious, this guy is experienced. Just looking at his line choices and pure speed was very impressive! We’re very excited to see how he’ll be doing this year!

Franzi Meyer

German champ Franzi is in for good times, she`s showing the boys in the team how to party on the trails! Being the only girl in the team can`t be always easy, but it’s clear she found the team she needs to step up her game. Having the full support and three fast team members must be the right ingredients for 2016!

Tobi Müller

Six times world champion Tobi Müller. Wait, yes; six world champion titles in Telemark Skiing – Tobi Müller is part of the Ghost Factory Racing RIOT Team. Riding with Tobi is so much fun and he`s fast! Combine that with the dedication and focus he has from skiing and you know that he might be the wildcard for 2016!

Kevin Maderegger

Kevin’s reason to be in a bad mood? Not riding a bike. I think I´ve never seen someone so eager to ride a bike and keep going until it’s dark. The 19 year old from Austria rides as if there’s no tomorrow, Kevin is the youngest of the team and on fire! Last year he managed to get the junior EES overall and this year he is in with the big boys! Keep an eye on Kevin, he might bring some positive surprises this season!

We had a chance to ride the PathRIOT as how it will be sold. The team rides on stock frames, but with some tweaks here and there.

Fox suspension, Shimano Di2 and Schwalbe tires on Tune wheels define the core of the team bikes. The riders prefer the coil shock over the air shock. On the stock test bikes we rode the Canecreek coil shock and were surprised by the plush feel. The coil shock seems to make up a bit for the lack of sensitivity coming from the bushings in all the suspension pivots.

The team decided to lower the front a bit by removing the Canecreek angle set and saving some build-height. This way they increase the reach of the bike a little bit and get a bit more average handlebar height.

Also interesting is that all four members ride a size large. We would be keen to see an XL option and we think the taller team riders would as well!
