Testing helmets can inevitably end in two ways; how it faired in all weather conditions or how grateful we are that it saved us a pricey trip to the hospital. Luckily, Trevor didn’t have any crashes and his long-term test managed to review the highs and lows without the latter.

Despite having numerous helmets on test, the trusty Bushwhacker is the one Trevor reaches for the most. With a deep, secure fit, much like a full-face helmet, it inspires confidence to shred those lines harder than before – and the shell has already proved its resistance to small knocks.

With a company name like Sweet Protection, you’d expect their helmets to be top notch. It didn’t dissappoint.

Exerting yourself and having to worry about pad odour wasn’t a problem, with the removable pads shrugging off odour well, and not only have been both durable, but very comfortable. Following trend, the straps, buckles and peak not only still look great, but present the durability we look for in helmets.

As you can see, the Bushwhacker sports an ambitious styling.

Night riding is presenting more of an emphasis on mountain biking, giving more thrills to the adrenaline seeker, and with the vent positions making it easy to affix most helmet-mounted lights to the shell, Sweet Protection have catered for the light hating, full-moon loving riders.

As with any review, there are a few negatives; the Occigrip adjustment mechanism is a little stiff to use, requiring two hands, and the helmet is a little warm on hot days – a small downside for providing a greatly protective helmet.

Trevor’s overall thoughts:

Pricy but good quality, it’s a great helmet.
