French wheel builder JP Racingbike 1 announces the release of updated carbon rims and hubs from manufacturer, Duke Racing Wheels. They feature an asymmetrical rim with a weight of 425g front and 450g rear. The colourful Mad Max hubs look pretty rad but they are also available with a range of popular hubs. The 32mm internal width enduro wheelset has us particularly interested!

Carbon 650b / 29’’ LUCKY JACK Rim

????????

Designed for XC use, the Lucky Jack is totally new for 2015. It has increased asymmetry to keep spoke tension equal on both sides. Specially designed for tubeless use, the rim features an anti-burp system and increased internal width.

????????
  • 3K carbon rim designed and tested in France, the rim is available in 650b and 29’’, tubeless
    compatible. Respectively 310 and 330g.
  • The asymmetry is now 2,6mm to give a much better brass angle than classic rims and equalize the
spokes tension, so that stiffness and durability are improved.
  • Important internal wideness (24,8mm): tire’s volume and stability are increased. Grip, efficiency
    and comfort are much improved.
  • Hookless design: the rim’s resistance is better than a rim with hooks. We have used that technology since
    2011.
  • External nipples for easier manipulation.
  • These modifications, added to new fiber and resin, allow 40% more lateral stiffness and 50% more
impact resistance than the previous version.
  • Anti-burp system: tire’s bead is held in position whatever the air pressure, no risk of blowing off.
  • Wheelset absolute personalization: hubs, colors…
  • Rim price: 429€
  • Wheelset price with DUKE Mad Max hubs and Sapim CX Ray spokes: 1637 €

stress on it and so increase fluidity and durability.
  • Oriented flanges to reduce pressures on the spoke’s curve, they are placed away on disc side at
front and cassette at rear to increase brass angle.
  • Double wall end caps for a better impermeability.

Carbon 650b / 29’’ CRAZY JACK rim

????????

Rémy Absalon’s wheel of choice, the Crazy Jack has been redesigned for 2015. It was widened to 32mm internal width and the spoke mounting offset was increased to 3 mm. 100g heavier than the Lucky Jack keeps it competitive among Enduro rims while being built for durability. We just may find out in an upcoming test!
