Austria’s Kirchberg is proud to be hosting the first official UEC MTB Enduro European Championships. The region has a lot of recent experience with big riding events, and for good reason. Year after year the annual Kitzalp Bike Festival comes to the region for the amazing trails, venues, and landscapes. What began in 2013 as a main event for the UCI Mountain Bike Marathon World Championships has continued on for three years as a focal point of the championship; organizers now plan on matching the success with the enduro championship in the proven international competing grounds.

June promises to deliver a decisive European winner to the sport and has been highly anticipated in the riding community. The festival is planning on first bringing the sport to the town and opening the ceremonies with the InCity prologue on Saturday right in the centre of Kirchberg. Spectators will be in the centre of the action where riders from all over Europe will be competing for the top starting spots in the subsequent trials. Narrow streets and stepped townscapes await the riders as they navigate their way from the church square through the centre to a podium which holds a place for the athletes and their flags.

Race-day Sunday! A total of five timed stages and almost 40 kilometres on singletrack, plus transfer sections, will be required of all riders. A special treat for all those involved right at the beginning: all riders start on equal ground at the start/finish line at the Fleckalmbahn (cablecar). Not only will the participants be making their mark on the track, attendees will be close enough to see the beads of sweat on the riders and feel the excitement of dirt flying through the air.

The overall winner of the championship is to be decided on Fleckalmtrail, the fifth stage, where the final stage beckons to the top contenders. The best performers of the previous four stages will have their times combined to determine the starting positions on this last course. Of all the competitors, the best 50 riders will race in an ascending order culminating in a tight competition for the first European champion. Spectators will be able to witness up-close-and-personally all the racers, close enough to offer that essential race-winning encouragement and be a part of the communal energy of crowning the 2015 Enduro Champion.

The event has already drawn some major players including Remy Absalon (FRA), Anneeke Beerten from the Netherlands, and the German national champion Ines Thoma. With more pros from all over Europe expected to enter, now is the time for all licensed riders to sign-up! Don’t miss your shot at the title, sign-up before June 16th – the countdown to the deciding race is on!
