Hans Rey has been riding SQlab saddles for over a decade and during that time has been involved in the development of new products, but this year marks the first he runs a saddle with his name on it. We caught up with him at the Sea Otter Classic where he was on hand at the SQlab booth showing off his new signature saddle and grips.

Based on the SQLab 611 Active MTB Ti Saddle, the 611 is available in three sizes (13cm, 14cm and 15cm). Featuring SQlab’s Active Design system, the saddle is designed to flex from side to side following the bio-mechanical movement of the pelvis through each pedal stroke, while reducing pressure on soft tissue. The different widths are designed to fit different sit bone distances, and the SQLab Team was on hand with their measuring system to size riders up.

The saddle comes in three different sizes.

The saddle also has extended nose for additional control during seated climbing. The 611 in the Hans Rey Signature colorway should be available soon.

In addition to their line of saddles, SQ Lab is known for its series of ergonomically shaped grips. Many of them are less than ideal for performance mountain bike riding as they’re optimized for a single hand position. The 711 MX grip is designed to provide a wider range of hand positions while still offering some relief for your hands. It uses a dual density material for vibration damping and comfort.

It’s also being released in the Hans Rey colorway to match the saddle, available in two sizes/ diameters to fit a variety of hands.

Hans also had his new IXS Flow Pads with him. Hans coined the phrase “Flow Country” to describe purpose built mountain bike trails and helped develop the IXS Flow pads, a knee pad designed specifically for these kinds of trails. They are light weight and comfortable for use on trail rides, and are now available in a signature color from him.

The Flow knee pad is one of the lightest knee pads that pass the EN-1621-1 motorcycle impact absorption standard, and should be available this fall.
