Strava, the online network connecting the global community of athletes, is helping runners and cyclists stay on course with the addition of routes to its mobile application. The new feature lets members import routes from strava.com into Strava’s mobile app for easy navigation during running and cycling activities.

“Since the debut of our Route Builder tool last fall hundreds of thousands of routes have been created on Strava,” said Alex Mather, vice president of product and user experience at Strava. “Now our members can plan new places to run and ride and explore them with confidence using our mobile app.”

For those moments when weather or other conditions take an unexpected turn, the app also has a “Route Back To Start” feature that automatically plots the most efficient path back to the beginning of the activity.

The Route Builder feature on strava.com helps members plan activities that fit their preferences and goals. It uses real athlete data to recommend the roads and trails around the world that runners and cyclists use the most. Millions of GPS-recorded activities uploaded to Strava inform Route Builder’s intelligence, allowing members to run and cycle like locals do, wherever they are.

Strava’s mobile app, version 4.1, is available in the App Store and Google Play today. The app is free and comes with the option of Premium membership that provides in-depth analytics, motivational tools like instant results, and member- only rewards and benefits. Strava Premium membership is available for $6 USD per month or $59 per year.
