If you throw any thoughts about competition overboard, then biking stands above all for one thing: freedom. A freedom which you create and experience, and one that brings people together. So we decided to be free, and created an issue dedicated to inspiring you to do what we often forget with our hectic work or study schedules: get out on a real adventure.
The magazine is all free and digital only. New: Now you can experience it also on your iPhone!

Seven trailbikes reviewed – in the field: Scott, Trek, Specialized, Rocky Mountain, Cube, Giant und Mondraker.

Freedom often starts with choosing the right bike. We gathered together seven of the most interesting 120-140mm travel machines for our Trail bike group test and went for a breath-taking mountain ride in South Tyrol. If you prefer your biking more pure, then check out the test of the NS Bikes Eccentric hardtail. For horse rustling and any other wild adventures, the exquisite Salsa Horsethief is perfect.

We tested six all-round riding tires in the lab and on the trail.

No less exclusive, and above all lively and fun, is the Rotwild X.1. But you’ll need the right equipment to go with the bike. Every ride needs the right profile, so we took six all-round riding tyres and put them through an extensive lab- and trail-test

Exploring Trails in Peru

Fundamental for biking fun are, of course, good trails. If you have some private woods (or even if you don’t) the temptation is strong to create your own little trail paradise. We loaded up our Defender with chainsaw, shovel, and axe and dug, cut, and hammered as hard as we could. Or you could just try and get as far away from civilisation as possible. How about some trails in Peru?

On tour with the Lady Shred Crew.

But of course people are more important as hardware: for example, a group of Shred Ladies who have found each other and formed a female biking community (p.36). How about an adventure with your own children? Holger and Karen took their kids out riding.
