Race Report | Enduro Trails in Beskid Mountains
The first round of the Enduro Trails event in 2015 was held on 2nd May in the Beskid Mountains that surround the city of Bielsko-Biala.
Early May weather traditionally made the race even more “attractive”, with moist loam, mud, slippery roots and fresh vegetation – briefly, it was beautiful yet definitely not easy! The demanding conditions did not seem to scare enduro-guys – organisers even added few extra entries above the limit. Those who was not lucky enough to enter the race travel with the whole pack and cheer their favorite athletes.
Despite tricky conditions racing was fierce indeed, leaving many racers separated by mere tenths of a second after the whole long day and four long special stages! This time the local hero Remik Ciok, who won two stages and lead the race almost to the finish line was defeated by Arek Perin. The downhill specialist, Arek, took few very risky and controversially tight lines winning last stage and the whole race by 3’10 of a second. Fastest in the masters category was Roman Kwasny, setting one of the fastest times of the race he proved that age is not a good excuse at all. Krzysztof Sciubak was fastest younior, whilst Elzbieta Figura took first place in woman category. The funny thing is that Ela Figura was faster than 2/3 of all men who started in the race. You should train harder guys!
