Endura’s new Singletrack women’s jacket is certainly a colourful and stylish affair, claiming top performance when the wild weather strikes and you’re a little less keen to get out and ride. Endura is based in Scotland so know a thing or two about rain, it was time to put the €129.99 jacket to the test.

The new Endura Singletrack women’s jacket is certainly as described, “striking trail protection”. The flashy red hue (the jacket is also available in purple for women and blue, black or red for men) is not for those wishing to blend in with the forest but, we always think that a little bit of visibility goes a long way, especially in amongst the trees on overcast days.

Well known for their durability, Endura have produced another solid trail wardrobe staple for the girl who rides and wants to do so in comfort and style. With a waterproof and breathability rating of 10,000 | 10,000 mm, the 2.5 layer fabric will keep you dry in the normal winter conditions that you might find yourself up in hill in, though it does get damp in very heavy rain. The fabric is proving tough too, shrugging off a small crash with ease.

The quantity of pockets is a delight, the ‘handwarmer’ pockets can keep your easily accessible items safe and the chest pocket will keep your phone dry (and your music playing via the media port if you so choose). There are also unsecured pockets inside to keep other items safe and dry, handy for your snacks and maps.

There is a minimal amount of reflective tabs and logos to keep you visible when the light dims, this is certainly not a high-viz jacket but the jacket colour and tabs will keep you a little safer when twilight strikes earlier than expected on winter afternoons. The roll away hood is compact when packed away and fits snugly under your helmet when unfurled.

This jacket has already had a good testing in the unusually wet winter that the UK is currently enjoying, and it has kept our tester snug and dry throughout. The underarm vents help to keep the rider cool as well as dry. We like the dropped tail as it gives a little more coverage in the all-important ass region, and the sleeve cuffs have adjustable velcro allowing for them to be tightened around gloves for a tight fit. However, the sleeves have a tight fit even before tightening so taking the jacket off while wearing gloves can be a bit of a wrangle with the sleeves invariably ending up inside out. Our tester thought that the jacket would have been improved by being a couple of centimeters longer in the body allowing a little more overlap with shorts without causing ruching issues.
