The idea for an enduro race in Sierra Nevada has been around for a few years now and with the local scene growing at a rapid rate the time is right to showcase what this beautiful and relatively undiscovered area has to offer trail riders. Having jumped through the obligatory bureaucratic hoops the organizers are proud to announce the inaugural Ride Sierra Nevada Enduro will take place on 25th and 26th of April 2015 in Güéjar Sierra, near the city of Granada, Andalucia.

The race is brought to you by Ride Sierra Nevada mtb holidays who have collaborated with Guejar Sierra Cultural Association, the town council and local bike shops and clubs. These collaborations have highlighted the enthusiasm and readiness to help that exists here for a format of mtb racing which has so far, been absent from the trails around Spain’s highest mountain range.

With a spectacular setting, world class riding and a very helpful climate the organizers are hoping the race will become a fixture on the Enduro calendar for years to come. While local business has been quick to help, finding a “big name” sponsor has not been so easy. Shaun from Ride Sierra Nevada said ”if we can gain positive feedback from the inaugural year then this will surely bring the mtb industry to Granada and help us develop this grass roots initiative”. He went on “it’s been great to see the community here embrace the idea. While in the past the enduro scene has been scattered, now we see it forming a core and focus and developing in new, exciting ways. The future is bright for mtb enduro in Andalucia”.
