When it comes to fun, a dropper seatpost is the best investment you can make for your bike. No longer will you have to ‘low ride’ up the hill or descend with the seat jacked sky high – you can set the seat just where you want it, when you want it with the simple press of a button.

There are now many options on the market, some use hydraulic fluid, while others stick to the simple maintenance offered by a cable actuation. The Specialized Command post has always been a popular cable operated unit, using a collet system to offer three positions of adjustment, but if you wanted to find that middle position fast when racing your buddies, it could sometimes be hard to hit that spot. All that has changed – enter the new Command Post IRcc!

The new IRcc (Internally Routed Cruise Control) looks unchanged on the surface, but Specialized have completely revised the internals of the post. Now there is 10 indents in the middle of the shaft at 5mm increments, so it is way easier to catch the post on the way down or the way up. This can lead to some variation in the height of the middle position (depending on when you stop the travel), but when you want either a high seat, a low seat or somewhere in between it’s perfect. The Command post retains the collet system to keep the simplicity and mechanical ease of a cable operation, and should be easy for the home mechanic to look after.

The post comes with the single ring lever for those who do not run a front ring, or a top mounted grip lever if you need to run a left hand gear shifter. This post will be fitted to many models in the Specialized range, and will also be available as an aftermarket addition.
