The Vitus Bikes Gravity Enduro Ireland Series has today been released by promoters Biking.ie. The series will comprise of 5 events spread around the country in Ireland’s best mountain bike venues. Established in 2011, the series is as popular as ever, with events selling out months in advance. Regarded as one of the premier enduro race series in the world, many overseas riders will be drawn to Irish shores in preparation for the second round of the Enduro World Series, which takes place in May 2015.

The events follows a two day format, with practice on Saturday and race on Sunday. Each event is limited to 350 riders who tackle 5 stages and climb in excess of 1000mtrs over an average of 25km. The atmosphere at the Irish Enduro is really something to behold, with no set transition times, riders are free to enjoy the day in the company of their friends. Ride time is typically 5 hours and the average racing time in the region of 25 minutes.

Event organiser Niall Davis of Biking.ie had this to say – “Next year is going to be one hell of a year for Irish Mountain Biking! With the Chain Reaction Cycles Emerald Enduro World Series Event in May, I’m sure we will have plenty of riders international riders coming to check out the first round of our national series. Each year we make tweaks to the format and a changes to the stages to keep things exciting, and next year looks like it will be better than ever. ”

The trails are naturally very technical, which makes for some incredible racing as riders have to be great bike handlers as well as very physically fit. Ireland doesn’t have the high speed open trails seen in the alpine countries, but it does boast some extremely technical and action packed stages where a nimble bike is faster than a long travel slugger.

Simon Cordner of Vitus Bikes commented “We’re delighted to support the Gravity Enduro Series for 2015. It’s a perfect partnership for us as the Irish hills have been the proving ground for our new range of SOMMET and ESCARPE Enduro bikes. We are looking forward to another great championships.”
