Alpina CARAPAX

Enduro Helmet Comparison Review9 1140x760
Alpina CARAPAX | € 129.95 | 283 g (52–57) | 2 sizes

The Alpina CARAPAX is the lightest lid on test, but hasn’t really broken the mold when it comes to image. Seeing as Alpina belongs to the Uvex Group, it’s not surprising that Alpina and Uvex share many of the same design features like the ratchet closure and mesh vents. The CARAPAX fits really well, and there are loads of adjustments available. The manufacturing isn’t flawless, with a gap in the EPS foam and angular plastic inserts that don’t scream high quality. Also, the Velcro fasteners were not glued to the shell properly and came loose after just one ride. The short visor has three positions and offers wide vision. There’s no continuous padding across the forehead , so sweat just runs unceremoniously down onto your face.

The Alpina CARAPAX is an affordable option for riders looking for a good fit and a classic design. The Alpina doesn’t really boast any special USPs, but it passed muster with virtually all of the test riders.
