iXS Trigger AM
The iXS TrailRS Evo is one of the most popular helmets on the market and regarded as the price-performance tip par-excellence. But this wasn’t good enough for the people at iXS, so they worked on a new helmet, the Trigger AM. With its new MTB lid, the Swiss brand extends its range whilst maintaining its competitive pricing. The Trigger AM exudes high-quality workmanship from all pores, the transition from the outer shell to the EPS foam looks cleaner than on any other helmet in this test. The all-around edge protection and magnetic Fidlock buckle round off the overall clean impression. The big dial and adjustable strap-buckles make for an easy, straight-forward fit.
The iXS Trigger AM features numerous air-ducts. These, however, are less pronounced on the inside and make for a stuffy feel inside. The narrow but stable visor has three different positions and can be easily adjusted while riding to make room for goggles. Despite most of our test-riders being right in between sizes, the iXS still offered the best compromise of fit and size gradation. The Trigger AM doesn’t include any additional safety features (MIPS or otherwise) nor does it have a camera mount. If this doesn’t bother you, the iXS is a great MTB helmet at a fair price.
