POC Tectal Race SPIN

Swedish manufacturers POC are known for their distinctive design language. Their popular enduro helmet is no exception. The Tectal Race SPIN is hands down the most elegant helmet in our test. The workmanship is top-notch, and the EPS foam is only visible on close inspection. The 4-point strap-system fits the tidy aesthetics and provides sufficient adjustment options. Using a screw, you can set the visor in different positions, ideally when the helmet isn’t on your head. Once the visor is positioned, it will keep in place firmly, which also means, the Tectal isn’t the number one choice for goggle wearers. Having said that, the POC features a strap-holder at the rear.

The real highlight of the POC Tectal Race SPIN hides inside the shell. With its SPIN technology, the Swedes offer their very own alternative to MIPS. SPIN stands for Shearing Pad Inside. This technology combines multi-layer pads with a silicone shear zone to reduce the rotational forces that result from certain impacts. The ventilation is superb and even on hot days your head won’t get too warm. The € 230 price-tag is a little steep though – other brands offer more for the same money.
