Alpina ROOTAGE

While Alpina helmets are usually known for their classic look, the ROOTAGE is aesthetically very different from any of its predecessors. Straight away, you’ll notice the big carbon panels integrated into the helmet shell. These are incorporated to provide additional protection whilst keeping the weight down – the Alpina is one of the lightest helmets in our test. The ROOTAGE is very well-built and the surrounding edge protection provides an elegant look whilst protecting the underside of the helmet.

On the inside, the washable antibacterial COOLMAX padding ensures a pleasant interior climate. Despite its many innovations, the ROOTAGE relies on a number of proven Alpina features such as the 3-point strap system and 360° cradle. In addition, the helmet comes with adjustable strap dividers and an intuitive ratchet buckle. For goggle wearers, the Alpina features a clip on the back and a generously adjustable visor. The vent-holes are reinforced with polycarbonate inserts, but the ventilation could be better. Unfortunately, the Alpina renounces any additional safety feature (i.e. MIPS or similar), which makes the price seem a little steep.
