Bell Sixer MIPS

In our 2018 reader survey with more than 28,000 participants, our readers voted Bell as their favourite helmet brand. For that reason alone, we had to include the Sixer MIPS in this test. Just by holding the Sixer in your hand, you’ll get a reassuring feeling of confidence. With a weight of 380 g however, this bulky helmet isn’t exactly lightweight. The workmanship is outstanding and the design a successful blend of modern and classic elements. The 4-point strap-system and 360° retention-ring ensured a great fit for most of our test-riders. Unlike most helmets from the competition, the Bell integrates the MIPS system directly into the retention system, which makes for a snugger fit, cleaner look and better ventilation.

The medium-sized visor of the Sixer can be adjusted in four positions and the mechanism clicks in very smoothly. If you use goggles, you’ll love the clever anti-slip pad on the back of the helmet and the visor is compatible with goggles too! While the Fasthouse-Edition in our test looks particularly good, the Sixer is available in eight more colours. All in all, the Bell is an excellent all-rounder without any real weaknesses, the price of € 169.99 lies bang-on in the midfield and is more than adequate considering the quality of the workmanship.
