ION Shelter Pants

We have put in some serious mileage on the ION Shelter Pants, a testament to their comfort, rugged construction and clever use of materials. The thigh, knee and lower legs are made from flexible fourway stretch fabric for easy freedom of movement, while the seat, inner hem and inner leg are made of tougher non-stretch fabric, which is holding up very well.

mtb riding pants trousers review test 10 600x400
The fit of the ION Shelter Pants is more ‘trail’ than ‘performance’ with a fit that looks more casual but still works exceptionally well

The fit is a little more relaxed than most, especially around the calves. After hundreds of km, there is no wear at all from the saddle. The pockets are all zipped, and the right-hand pocket features a neoprene pad to protect your phone in a crash. The lower legs feature a gusseted zip allowing you to slip them over your shoes if needs be. The fabric is light and tough with a good amount of stretch. Two adjusters allow you to tailor the waist without an uncomfortable plastic buckle in the middle. Long meshed ventilation zips finish off the well-specified package.

These have become a firm team favourite, with everything you need and nothing you don’t. Suitable for everything, from all-day pedal epics, after work shreds, right down to full bore shuttle runs.
