Endura MT500 Waterproof Jacket II

Waterproof Jacket Group test MTB ENDURO 8888 1140x760

The Endura MT500 Waterproof Jacket II is a fully-featured, full-on mountain jacket. A new panel design has improved the waterproofing over the shoulders and the highly adjustable voluminous hood has been revised and can accommodate a helmet easily. The fit is very generous with room for layers underneath if you venture out in the depths of winter and the high collar with comfortable lining provides a sanctuary from hard winds. The ExoShell60 fabric provides high 18,000 mm waterproof and impressive 64,000 g/m2 breathability ratings and is extremely stretchy. Long underarm and front vents can be cracked right open for optimum ventilation. Internal stretch cuff on the sleeves stops water driving up past your wrists in really foul weather. It’s the little details like these that show the MT500’s Scottish heritage.

We like the lift pass pocket, and the huge chest pockets offer plenty of space for maps and essentials, though heavy items like phones do bounce around a little. If you ride a lot with a heavy backpack, the durable Cordura panels and silicone grips will keep the jacket looking new for longer.

The Endura MT500 II feels like a proper mountaineering jacket, adapted to biking, and offers superb weather protection if a storm turns biblical. Some of our slimmer testers found the fit very boxy so try before you buy.
