Fi’zi:k M5B Donna Review

Fabulous shoes for cross-discipline riding and they wouldn’t look out of place on a night out on the town either.
Fabulous shoes for cross-discipline riding and they wouldn’t look out of place on a night out on the town either.

Fi’zi:k are an Italian brand and Girl! does it show, the first thing you’ll notice on the M5B Donna is the styling. The anti-scratch leather is laser-perforated on one side and a speckled white on the other to contrast with swirling suede and a boa fastening – if Manolo Blahnik did cycling shoes I imagine this is what they’d have in mind. The cleat adjustment is the shortest of all the shoes, offering the least movement and preventing the shoe being the optimum example for aggressive riding but that isn’t where these shoes are pitched. The angular sole pattern and front stud holes make it a good choice when muddy grip is required, as long as you don’t mind dirtying your Italian leather. The Boa fastening is simple and effective at getting the fit accurate and easy to undo with gloved or chilly fingers. Some testers did experience problems with fit so trying on is highly recommended, the tongue felt a little aggressive against the ankle.

For those who want style and performance this shoe is a shining example of a quality piece of engineering.
