Kärcher KHB 6 cordless pressure washer in review – Never leave your bike dirty again?

Do you enjoy riding in the wet but don’t like getting your van dirty? Then we might have the solution for you! The handy Kärcher KHB 6 works without a power outlet or water connection. Is it the ideal companion for when you’re on the go or just another underpowered cordless pressure cleaner with a tank that’s too small?

Strictly speaking, the Kärcher KHB 6 is a medium pressure cleaner that uses a battery instead of a power connection. However, it doesn’t rely on a tank like most mobile pressure washers, which usually ends up being much too small anyway. Apart from being able to use a regular water connection, the best part about the KHB 6 is that it can also draw water directly from the source, easily using a nearby river or container in your van with the help of a special suction hose (available separately for € 32.99). Thanks to the integrated filter, you don’t have to worry about clogging either. However, you should always make sure there’s enough water in the container or water source so that it doesn’t suck air. The KHB 6 relies on Kärcher’s compact 18 V batteries, each offering a capacity of 2.5 Ah, which can be topped up using the supplied charger. Like a standard cordless drill, you can remove the battery with one hand and it’s compatible with other Kärcher devices that rely on the same platform. The integrated display allows you to keep an eye on the battery level and the remaining operating time. As you charge the battery, the display also shows the charging time left. A full charge takes a little less than 1.5 hours and provides up to 12 minutes of cleaning time. We were able to wash three completely muddy bikes on one charge and needed about 12 litres of water per bike. Two different nozzles are included, though you should reserve the dirt blaster nozzle for cleaning your terrace as it is relatively aggressive. We used the QC flat jet nozzle, which bombards your bike with up to 200 litres of water per hour and offers the perfect compromise between pressure and safety. The pressure isn’t as all-out as a high-pressure cleaner and therefore gentler on bearings, but the Kärcher KHB 6 nonetheless reliably cleans stubborn dirt and removes mud from your tires.

Constant pressure
Even without a water outlet or power connection in sight, the Kärcher KHB 6 offers constant pressure to keep your bike sparkly clean while on the go.
All the info you need
Thanks to the LCD display, you can check the battery charge without first having to switch the system on.
Suction hose with filter
The KHB 6 doesn’t require a tap, just a full battery and access to 10–12 litres of water per bike, even if it’s from a nearby stream. The required suction hose costs an additional € 32.99.

The foam nozzle is available for € 21.99 and is a lot of fun too. You can fill it with up to 300 ml of your favourite cleaner and cover your bike in frothy foam! #foamparty. Doing so doesn’t only allow you to see the places that you’ve missed, you can also clean all the nooks and crannies you wouldn’t otherwise get to. Thanks to the constant pressure, your bike can then be rinsed down thoroughly within a few minutes, leaving the bike ready to be stowed in your van or garage.

Tops

  • suitable pressure for cleaning eMTBs
  • independence from power and water outlets
  • battery can be swapped out easily
  • versatile accessories available

Flops

  • suction hose not included

The Kärcher KHB 6 keeps the pressure at an optimal level to wash your bike and, thanks to its clever mobile system, doesn’t require a power or water connection. This sets it apart from other mobile pressure washers that depend on a tank, which is often much too small. Charging the battery takes no time at all. With the additional attachments, it can be used in a variety of ways and guarantees first-class bike cleaning on the go with just the right amount of pressure!
