SQlab have created a bit of hype around their brand thanks to their distinctive saddles with a stepped rear design. Representing the pinnacle of the line-up for trail and enduro riders, the cleverly designed and lightweight 611 active Carbon plays on its carbon rails to keep its weight down to a feathery 225 g. Its form with raised tail and dropped nose not only distinguishes the saddle from traditional competitors, but has been designed to optimize weight distribution and therefore power transfer. SQlab are on hand to help with purchasing decisions, as the 611 comes in three different widths to suit various size behinds. We’ll admit it takes a few rides to get used to the SQlab concept, but once your behind has settled onto the saddle, be prepared for an all-new riding sensation that removes pressure from your sensitive areas, even after hours in the saddle. Weary sit bones are a thing of the past. The ‘active’ system’s design means the saddle’s stays have gentle flex while you’re pedaling, which is reputed to further improve comfort. With a retail price of € 199.94, the saddle displays impeccable quality, and there’s a robust Kevlar reinforcement at the back to protect particularly vulnerable areas so that this comfort miracle won’t wear itself out any time soon.
