The latest materials and a super low weight is of no advantage if the saddle’s shape doesn’t suit the rider’s rear. But fortunately for Christoph, when it came to the Race Face Æffect, it was a case of ‘love at first seat,’ and the saddle has jumped from test bike to test bike.

After eight months of constant heavy-duty use, it still looks great. A few small, minor wear and tear marks are visible, but what can you expect after 8 hard months with day in, day out use, working for a magazine and aggressively, yet religiously racing? Compared to other saddles of this nature, the price isn’t one that’s going to leave a huge dent in your bank balance either. At $89.90 (found some places on the web for $79.90), it’s incredibly reasonable.

Coming in at only $89.90 (found for $79.90 on the web) - there's no real comparison to others for such a well-priced, long term saddle.

After crashing a few times, you’d expect there to be battle scars to tell the tale, but alas, this warrior has soldiered on and still sports a pretty hard-wearing outer material. So if you’re after a comfortable, long-lasting saddle which can withstand crashes, everyday use and some pretty sweaty backsides, then the Race Face Æffect is the ideal solution – presuming, of course, that you’ll also experience love at first seat…
