News | UEC European Enduro Crowns First Champions
The UEC European Enduro Championship race in Kirchberg is over and we now have our new official European Champions. Conditions on the stages were tough, the drying track had turned to thick mud and riders had to stay loose to hold speed. At the bottom of the stages it was hard to tell where the mud ended and the rider began. But finally after a long day, National Anthems rang out over the town square, we have our new champions.
In the women’s race, Specialized Racing’s Anneke Beerten took the win with Ibis Team rider Anita Gehrig close behind, an amazing performance by 17 year old Radon Team rider Raphaela Richter saw her take third
In the men’s race, Jerome Clementz was the odds on favourite, and kept it smooth and clean to take victory and the European Championship Jersey. Remy Absalon put up a good fight and took second place. Slovenian Vid Persek smashed his way to a third place position, closely followed by Radon Bikes James Shirley in fourth.
It was a big day for all the riders, and now, for the first time, we have official European Champions. Full report to follow…
