Kicking off next weekend, the TREK BIKE ATTACK invites 777 riders to Lenzerheide for the 15th time to hurtle down 2,000 metres of altitude from the Rothorn into the much lower-lying Churwalden. But at such a mass start race like the BIKE ATTACK, there are a few nuggets of wisdom to consider so that your weekend can end on a high. We were at the start last year and have compiled a list of what we consider the six most important tips!

To be in with a chance to mix it with the big guns, pay attention to these tips!

#1 – Qualification is key

The qualifications define your starting block – those who start at the back of the pack will ultimately end up in the bottleneck and therefore screw any chance of a decent position.

Auch in diesem Jahr werden hier wieder fein säuberlich alle Bikes aufgereiht.
It takes a while to get all of the bikes lined up so tidily!

#2 – Dress for the cold

Naturally, as it takes a fairly long time to ensure that 777 riders and exactly as many bikes are transported up the Rothorn, it’s wise to take a jacket so that you can enjoy the view from the summit while you wait without having to shiver uncontrollably.

#3 – Danger of puncturing

The top part of the race is super stony so make sure your wheels are as puncture-resistant as possible, otherwise wave goodbye to the podium – tubeless is your friend here.

Eine Halbschale würde hier für eine bessere Belüftung sorgen.
An open-faced helmet would allow far better ventilation here.

#4 – Helmet swaps are permitted

After the real downhill is over, there’s still a ton of pedaling to do. The smart ones amongst you will grab an open-faced helmet to keep cool.

#5 – Creative line choices pay off

The first third of the run definitely gives you freedom for some creative lines. Those who imprint certain sections into their memory and trust their skills when it comes to riding outside of the pack, can score a host of positions and avoid any bottlenecks.

Erschöpft angekommen: Hier wäre ein Shuttel zurück nicht schlecht!
Pure exhaustion – a shuttle back would be appreciated!

#6 – Plan your return journey

The race ends in Churwalden, where the prize ceremony will take place too. But as the chairlift is currently not running, you’ve either got to ride or clamber aboard the local bus service (the Postbus) for the return journey.
