Topeak Shock ’n Roll

The Shock ‘n Roll takes an interesting approach. Why carry two pumps around with you when you can combine a shock and tire pump in one model? That certainly isn’t a bad idea, because it saves space and parts. However, in terms of price and weight it offers no advantages. Combining two common models from the same brand (Pocketshox DXG + Racerocket MT) results in almost identical values. The two modes of the Shock ‘n Roll can be changed by simply twisting the shaft, and the adapter for the various valves is integrated into the head, making it quite bulky, leading to problems with certain frames.

The handle has a lock, which is handy, but from time to time it can interfere while you’re pumping, either getting stuck or stopping you from using the pump’s full stroke. The display is relatively accurate and the pumping output is okay, but you definitely need more strokes in both modes than you would with a dedicated model. The resistance when pumping remained consistently in the middle range. You can also use the tire mode to quickly fill the fork and switch to the shock mode to make fine adjustments.
