VAUDE Moab AM flat pedal-shoes 2019

After updating their clipless shoe collection last year VAUDE decided to radically modernise the Moab AM flat-pedal line for the 2019 season. Four versions in different heights and with different features — all designed to offer the right shoes for each situation.

The most important innovation: Vaude replaced the Vibram sole with a SUP traction rubber which is divided in two sections with a different tread-pattern. The design is meant to offer optimal traction on and off the pedals.

The Moab AM series has been expanded to a total of four models. They all share the same new SUP traction-sole which is divided in two sections to allow for maximum grip both on and off the pedal. The shoe features a low profile designed for an optimal interaction with the pedal pins and also a rear-facing profile which is meant to improve the grip when walking. The sole features a raised profile in the toe- and heel-areas which provides good traction on all sorts of terrain.

The flat studs in the pedal-area are designed to improve grip on the pedal pins and in the meantime the rear-facing profile-tread provides good grip for walking sections.

Prices start at €120 for the entry model of the Moab AM which features a robust upper-material. The next model up costs € 150 and has the same shape but with an elegant water-repellent leather-upper. This version is part of VAUDEs Green Shape series which is produced entirely with sustainable materials (leather from Germany) and environmental-friendly procedures. For € 170 you can get the more technical version with raised ankle protection, anti-slip material in the heel area as well as a Boa lacing system. The rotating closure-disc is protected by a strap made of flexible fabric which should prevent from pressure zones in the buckle area. The fourth model is designed for alpine all-weather use and is available in a tall version with a leather top and waterproof Sympatex membrane. Its price is € 190.
