Maximum travel, uncompromising performance – but does the Wolf Tooth Resolve rev2 deliver on its promises? With a massive 242 mm of travel and a price tag of € 480, Wolf Tooth’s dropper post aims to claim the top spot in its class. We put it through the wringer to find out whether it lives up to the hype.

Wolf Tooth Components is an American manufacturer from Minnesota that was founded by passionate riders. Their mission is to create bike components that are lighter, more versatile, and built to outclass the competition. With the Resolve rev2 dropper post and their patented self-bleeding system, Wolf Tooth set out to raise the bar once again.
Retailing at € 480, the Resolve rev2 dropper post ranks amongst the priciest cable-operated models in this test field, even more expensive than the FOX Transfer Factory, which costs € 449. However, in terms of weight, the Wolf Tooth Resolve rev2 is just 21 g heavier than the OneUp V3, which makes it one of the lightest options available.
Although the Wolf Tooth Resolve rev2 arrived at our office slightly later than all other competitors, we put it through the wringer to thoroughly evaluate its performance.

The Wolf Tooth Resolve rev2 is available in a total of four travel options – 125 mm, 160 mm, 200 mm, and an impressive 242 mm – and in diameters of 30.9 mm, 31.6 mm, and 34.9 mm. The travel can also be reduced by up to 50 mm, though this operation requires some effort: the dropper must be opened at the head, right where the air valve is positioned, to insert spacers. Conveniently, the desired travel length can be pre-configured when ordering online, saving you the work – nice!
Compared to the competition, the Wolf Tooth Resolve stands out with its short insertion depth. At just 333 mm, it beats both the FOX Transfer Factory (362 mm) and the OneUp V3 (342 mm), which also come in a 240 mm travel version. For bikes with a short seat tube, this is a godsend. Stack height is also pleasantly low at just 34 mm.
The Wolf Tooth ReMote Pro costs an additional € 90 and is available with a conventional, handlebar clamp or alternatively with I-SPEC or Matchmaker clamps. The remote also comes in nine different colors – a cool feature for riders who want to customise their cockpit. For those looking to add a bit of flair, Wolf Tooth offer titanium saddle clamp bolts on their website – which are available in a range of signature colors too. Price: €15.
Inside the Resolve R2 dropper, Wolf Tooth combine an adjustable air cartridge with a special mechanical valve that automatically bleeds air when the dropper is fully slammed. If the post starts to feel spongy, sinking slightly under load, you just have to fully compress it once or twice to expel excess air and reset the system.
Air pressure is regulated via a valve under the saddle clamp, which allows inflate up to 260 PSI using a shock pump. This lets you fine-tune both the remote’s actuation force and the return speed to your preference.
For servicing, you’ll need a specific Wolf Tooth XZN16 Triple Square socket, which is included in both service kits. The 100-hour service kit costs € 21, while the full-service kit is available for € 38. With the help of the video tutorial on the Wolf Tooth website, maintenance is easy to manage – as long as you have the specialized tool.
Another highlight: the Wolf Tooth Resolve rev2 is a real head-turner with its CNC-machined saddle clamp and high-quality finish. A bonus for owners of the first version with 125, 160, and 200 mm of travel: for € 90, you can upgrade the internals of your old Resolve dropper with the new version. This upgrade should ensure lighter remote actuation and more efficient self-bleeding compared to the previous model.

The saddle clamp features two silver bolts with barrel nuts and practical markings for easier saddle tilt adjustments. However, if you do this with a multitool, be careful not to scratch the stanchion.
The ReMote Pro is easy to install and perfectly integrates into the cockpit thanks to the three mounting points, ensuring excellent ergonomics. The remote itself feels exceptionally high-quality, which is mainly down to the CNC-machined aluminum construction. The textured thumb pad offers excellent grip, even with gloves. Combined with the well-tuned cartridge, the remote requires minimal actuation force, and is particularly comfortable to use.
On the trail, the dropper post impresses with smooth operation. It compresses and extends effortlessly, making a distinct “clunk” noise at both ends of the travel. While the return speed isn’t quite as snappy as with the top tier droppers in this test, like the FOX Transfer Factory and RockShox Reverb, the difference is minimal and hardly noticeable on the trail. Even with the air cartridge fully inflated, the resistance is low, which makes it particularly appealing to lighter riders. Dropping the post is effortless, adding a notable level of comfort and usability.
Throughout the testing time, the Wolf Tooth Resolve rev2 showed no inconsistencies or unwanted play, proving a reliable, well-rounded performer.
Conclusions about the Wolf Tooth Resolve rev2 dropper post
With the rev2, Wolf Tooth deliver a reliable and innovative dropper post, which sets itself apart from the competition with an impressive 242 mm of travel and premium materials, like the CNC-machined aluminum saddle clamp. While it narrowly misses the top spot in its weight class, the price of € 480 feels a bit steep. However, the low stack height allows you to make the most of its travel when fully dropped – something many will appreciate. A standout feature is the short insertion depth, which makes it an excellent choice for bikes with a short seat tube.
