We all want more protection on the downhills without sacrificing uphill comfort, which has always made helmet choice a little more difficult. Riders have the choice of either a light and airy trail helmet, or a more protective but heavier full face helmet. Last year a helmet hit the market with a detachable chin guard that offered a unique choice – one helmet to do it all. Helmet experts Lazer have now jumped into the game with their Revolver FF.

Although still in the prototype stage the new Revolver FF offers some interesting features. Everything you would expect to find is there including 23 large vents, in mould construction, an advanced Turnfit ATS retention system, adjustable visor and removable ear pads. The helmet is optimised for goggle use and features a retention ridge that stops the strap slipping over the top.

One unique feature is the SMS camera mount that has been fully crash tested and certified, with or without a camera fitted, so you can be sure that wearing a helmet will not put you at risk. Another unique feature is that the chin guard claims to be fully ASTN tested, something that cannot be said from its competition. It must be pointed out however that Lazer have not yet been granted the ASTN rating, but they seem confident that this will reached.

The styling is certainly interesting and we look forward to seeing the finished model. Lazer are expecting the Revolution FF to hit the market in mid 2016, expecting it to cost in the region of €140. The helmet will also be available in a 340g trail lid version for around €100. We will bring you the first trail tests as soon as the helmet hits the market.
