The last two seasons have brought us a range of choice when looking for a open face helmet with extended coverage. Its pretty hard for a manufacturer to differentiate themselves with all this competition. Giant has wisely brought out their brand new line of helmets at Sea Otter, providing us with a little break from the 27.5+ madness. The Rail trail and enduro helmet immediately impresses with nice colour combos and very low 240 g weight:

Clean style and a range of colours should appeal to a wide audience.

The final helmet in Giant’s new lineup is the trail and enduro focused Rail. With its trail-specific design and technologies, including massive ventilation and extended rear coverage, Rail brings a new level of performance to off-road riders who face varying terrain and conditions on every ride. With 18 vents, designed with straight, non-tapered walls, airflow is optimized whether you’re bombing down the trail or grinding up steep climbs. The Rail also boasts a number of trail-riding features including a camera mount, integrated goggle strap and adjustable visor.

Deep forehead inlets should provide excellent ventilation.

This combination of looks, protection and weight makes the Giant Rail competitive, especially as other companies bring out new lightweight models. We’ll be back with a review whenever possible! In the meantime, visit giant-bicycles.com.
