While the distinguished jury of industry experts evaluated, scrutinized and discussed some of the most exciting products of 2015, the Design & Innovation Award 2015 evolved into something much more. For ten days it became a forum for exciting discussion about the trends, developments and the future of our sport. Under the ancient vaulted ceilings of the castle, groups would form to passionately debate some of the most important topics challenging the sport today; these ‘Breakout Sessions’ were no holds barred, and no opinion was too strong.

Over the next few weeks we will be bringing you a series of exciting ‘Design & Innovation Award 2015 Breakout Sessions’, each one challenging an important hot topic, debating burning issues that have polarised and divided the biking community. During the 25 meetings no stone was left unturned and no voice was ignored. These exciting Breakout Sessions took on topics such as:

  • Over-Innovation of wheel sizes: Do we really need the new upcoming wheel sizes like 26+, 27,5+ and 29+?
  • The use of electronics on Mountain bikes
  • Danger: What enduro racing should not become!
  • The next big thing – innovations that will shape the bikes of tomorrow

  • Sacrificing durability for performance, have we gone too far?
  • How to make mountainbiking more appealing and attract more women to the sport?
