The Enduro World Series (EWS) is proud to announce the formation of a new advisory board to help guide its future. Consisting of both industry and rider representatives, the board will act as a link between the series organisers and the wider enduro mountain biking community. The advisory board features six well-known industry figures who will provide feedback on the rules, events and ideas that will help shape the Enduro World Series into a truly sport focused collective.
The first board member needs very little introduction – Rob Roskopp is founder of Santa Cruz Bicycles and one of the most recognisable names in mountain biking. Speaking about his new role, Rob said: “Santa Cruz is excited to be supporting the Enduro World Series, both as a manufacturer and as a team. We see great potential in the EWS and we believe its independence as its own governing body, along with this advisory board, will offer a well-rounded approach to the sport of Enduro racing.”
Next up is Tracey Moseley, a former Downhill World Champion and the current UK Gravity Enduro Champion. She said: “I really want to support the EWS as I believe Enduro racing is an integral part of mountain biking. The majority of people who ride bikes can relate to Enduro; I really want to help the sport grow in the right way, making it sustainable for the long term. I hope I will be able to bring the views of the large number of people who ride and race who want to see our sport develop, but to keep it growing in the right direction and not get stuck in the politics of large organisations.”
Jerome Clementz is perhaps the best-known enduro rider in the world. The French athlete has numerous titles to his name, including wins at the Trans-Provence and Crankworx. Jerome said: “Before EWS we didn’t have a series where riders from all over the world came and fought for the win together – now we do. It means a lot to me that EWS is run by some passionate people, who love the sport, want to develop it in the right way and listen to people around to make things better. It will be my role as a rider to help the organisation and give support and feedback to this series to make it even better.”
SRAM’s Product Manager Jeremiah Boobar is another leading industry figure sitting on the board. Jeremiah commented: “I want to see the professionalism of this discipline grow, while maintaining the fun accessibility that has got so many people excited about Enduro. We need to make sure we create a balance between putting on a great show with the professional race and putting on great events for people to take part in. If we can successfully do that we will grow the series, the events and the sport.”
Also joining the board is Curtis Keene, North American Enduro Tour Winner and Specialized rider. He said: “I want to help create a series that’s inviting for everyone, yet challenging, world class and with a high fun factor. At the end of the day we all just want to have some fun on our bikes with everyone else on board; I believe we’re in good hands and the future is looking bright for 2013 and beyond.”
Last but no means least is Mark Fitzsimmons, Fox Shox Race Programme Manager. With 38 years of riding behind him, Mark feels he has plenty to offer in his new role. “I have a general love for mountain biking and being a part of EWS is an opportunity to share my years of experience in the industry and give something back. The EWS is going to change the way the world looks at Enduro racing and will create a rider ranking that will help the riders, sponsors and discipline itself elevate to a new level. I am very excited about it!”
