Much more than just generous baristas treating passersby to great coffee, the friendly Spaniards from Orbea are also pretty good at making bikes too – especially ones that look as good as these. While we don’t know the exact intricacies of their coffee-making skills, we can give you the low-down on the bikes.

Orbea Loki

The most exciting new addition to Orbea’s catalogue was the Loki hardtail, which rolls on both 27.5+ as well as 29” wheels and was on show to the public at EUROBIKE. Taking an aluminium frame, the Loki unites the Boost 148 rear standard, ensuring sufficient space for wide tyres, and short chainstays.

The Spaniards have dubbed the Loki’s geometry as ‘trail fun geometry’, which nails the 120 mm front forks. With a 410 mm reach (size medium) erring on the compact side and the 429.9 mm chainstays, resulting in a wheelbase of 1131 mm, the Loki strikes us as an agile and playful trail whip rather than a high-speed shredder.

Orbea Occam TR

The Occam marks Orbea’s all-new product range, designed with 120 – 140 mm of travel to render it a classic trail bike. The Occam comes with either an aluminium or carbon frame, which boasts the so-called UFO technology that eradicates the rear pivot to save weight and increase rigidity. The movement comes from a specially designed carbon lay-up on the seatstays that allows flex. The aluminium frame, however, features a concentric pivot on the rear wheel axle.

The Occam TR is Orbea’s 29er trail bike that features 120 mm front and rear travel. The 431 mm reach (size medium) should grant it an extremely balanced nature as it combines with the 435 mm chainstays. With a well-considered 68° head angle and 74.5° seat angle, we reckon this is going to be one well-designed trail bike. The Occam TR will come in three sizes: M, L, XL.

Orbea Rallon

Orbea’s enduro bike, the Rallon, doesn’t require an introduction, but this newest incarnation has been tweaked and toned since last year so that the aluminium frame is now even lighter and features the Boost 148 rear standard. What’s more, the geometry can be altered via the flipchip on the rear shock mount – the options: low and lower. In any doubt? The head angle can be slackened by 0.5° from 66° to 65.5°, while the rest of the geometry remains the same.

Orbea Digit Seatpost

Attentive souls out there might have noticed the rather unconventional seatpost on the Orbea Loki – the Digit seatpost is in fact a manual dropper post, specifically suited for use on XC bikes.

Das Loki kommt mit der neuen Orbea Digit-Sattelstütze. Mehr dazu unten.
At first glance the Digit looks like a regular seatpost.
Über die zweite Klemmung lässt sich die Sattelhöhe schnell verstellen.
The second clamp allows for rapid changes in the height.
Durch die kleinen Schrauben lassen sich die Endanschläge einstellen.
Two grub screws allow you to choose the stop position.

The Digit has two seat clamps, of which one enables you to adjust the seat height. The post sees two tubes placed one inside the other. There’s a groove in the inside tube to ensure the saddle stays straight. Two grub screws act as stops and all it takes is a simple push or pull to get ready for the descents.

Already available, the seatpost retails at 79 €.
