Reynolds have been making high end carbon wheels for a number of years now, this year they have gone for a sexy new look, with their new ‘top of the line’ BLACKLABEL Wheelsets. With stealth gloss black graphics on the naked carbon they certainly looked exclusive, but their impressive weights came with a big price tag, priced at €1999 a set. The wheelsets all feature the new MR5 carbon technology, using five different carbon layups in the wheels construction, optimising bead, bed, sidewall and spoke mounts for maximum strength and lightness.

The wheelsets come in both 27.5 and 29 inch sizes and both sizes feature one set for heavy duty riding (the 27.5AM and 29TR) and one set for those who want the lightest weight possible (27.5XC and 29XC). All the wheels are built onto Reynolds own straight pull hubs, which are compatible with all axle standards, but need center lock rotors (there is no 6 bolt compatibility), and built with forged bladed spokes.

The 27.5AM rims weigh in at 1525g, pretty light for a hard hitting wheel.
