On May 3rd we had an excellent race on the hills of Curacaví where 400 riders gathered to celebrate the second round of the Ssangyong Montenbaik by Santa Cruz Enduro National Championship.

Five special stages were scheduled for this round. Everybody was happy with the tracks, because they were very entertaining, fast, technical and physical at the same time as they had some good flat sections. “El Espejo” and “La Mina” stages were not the longest ones but with the passage of the 400 riders in training and the race made the tracks very loose so the handling was very difficult.

Five hours of racing made the course loose, so handling was very difficult.

Then came the two longest stages of the race, “Los Capachos” and “Tongocoa”. Capachos was considered by many, the best stage of the race. The 4th Special Stage of the day was Tongocoa. To reach to the start of this stage riders had hike the bike for about 30 minutes leaving riders exhausted as they were riding for almost 5 hours. This Special was long, technical and characterized with two very technical sections. All this combined with almost five hours of race made it harder.

Finally we had the special stage “Escalones” that could be seen completely from the layout of the race so a good number of people was encouraging the riders in the final meters of the race.

With an outstanding performance of Pedro Ferreira (Extreme Zone Cycle Racing), winner of the Enduro 1 Series, and Pedro Burns (Cube Bikes Chile), winner in Junior, concluded the 2nd day of the National Championship Ssangyong Montenbaik Enduro by Santa Cruz 2015.

Notably, both riders were awarded at the Open and Junior categories in the 1st Latin American Montenbaik Enduro race, held in early April in Bariloche, Argentina. Even Burns had also been imposed at the inaugural event of the domestic season, so it remains undefeated.
