Sea Otter 2015 | Durango Bike Co. Blackjack
Durango Bike Co. presented their new 29″ full suspension bike, the Blackjack, at the Sea Otter Classic Bike Festival. Using current standards such as SRAM’s Boost 148, the bike can take 29″ wheels as well as 27.5+ wheels.
Here’s what Durango Bike Company’s president, Jeff Estes, had to say: “The 148 was a game changer for DBC, we made our message loud and clear that we were huge proponents of the 27.5” wheel size with our Moonshine. We were pretty discouraged with the 29er’s that were on the market and how they performed under typical mountain transitions and technical terrain. The 148 took our “meh” attitude towards 29er’s about face.”
“Shorter chainstays (16.7 to be precise) and significant stiffening of the wheels are huge and now having the ability to run 2.8 to 3.25″ tires on 27.5+ wheels makes this market exciting for the rider, the buyer, and the manufacturer. It is a definite step in the right direction and we are excited to be a part of it.”
DBC’s 120mm of travel 29er is both functional and utilitarian, the progressive engineering feature allows for 27.5+ compatibility with 2.8 – 3.25″ tire options, giving the rider the ability to swap wheels as and when the adventure changes.
The Blackjack will be available in three complete build packages starting at $4500. More information at http://durangobikecompany.com/.
