YT Jeffsy 2018 announced – all specs and prices
Frames remain unchanged
Apart from some new colour options, the frame of both the JEFFSY 29 and the JEFFSY 27 remain unchanged. The most noticeable difference between the two, apart from the wheel size, is the increased travel on the JEFFSY 27 (150 mm) over the JEFFSY 29 (140 mm), with the top-of-the-line JEFFSY 27 CF Pro Race sporting an additional 10 mm over the more affordable options. The JEFFSY 27 uses metric sized shocks, which means that the RockShox equipped builds come with the Deluxe shock rather than the Monarch.
Eleven+ Drivetrain
The biggest change over last years models comes in form of a unique drivetrain setup. All Jeffsy models come with Shimano shifters and derailleurs, combined with the 1×11 E*thirteen TRS+ cassette featuring 511% gear range. YT uses cranksets from E*thirteen or Race Face to accompany the drivetrain that they’ve labelled Eleven+. YT argues that this setup is not only lighter than an SRAM Eagle drivetrain but also more durable and easier to adjust. There are no more two-by builds anymore.
No more Onza tires
The 2018 JEFFSY models no longer rely on Onza tires. The carbon models come with E*thirteen tires, the 29er with the TRS+ front and rear and the JEFFSY 27 with the TRS+ in the rear and the softer TRSR on the front. The aluminium models roll on MAXXIS rubber, Minion DHR IIs on the JEFFSY 29 and Highroller IIs on the 27.5 version.
Prices
Most of the models have seen a price increase over last year’s equivalents. The CF Pro Race goes up by € 500, now costing € 4,999 compared to € 4,499 in 2017. On the low end of the spectrum, the most affordable model is now the JEFFSY AL for € 2,299.
