The Yeti Cycles Big Mountain Enduro presented by Shimano is excited to announce courses for the second race of the season in Durango, June 28-29. The Durango Enduro is not for the timid; it is a true backcountry event that requires riders to have moderate to excellent fitness and great bike handling skills on steep, technical terrain at high altitudes. Each of our multiple stages will have a distinct flavor and showcase the finest riding in Durango. Over the course of racing two days, the second stop of the 2014 Big Mountain Enduro will be all about big descents in the high alpine.

Please also share the trail closures that are in effect on Saturday. The US Forest Service will restrict access and use of the Colorado Trail between Kennebec Pass and Junction Creek Campground from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 28, 2014, to ensure public safety and facilitate management of our mountain bike event.

The event is being conducted under a special use permit issued by the San Juan National Forest Columbine Ranger District. Approximately 20 miles of the trail will be affected by the restriction during the six-hour period.

Those driving Junction Creek Road (Forest Road #171) should anticipate encountering bicyclists descending from the Junction Creek Campground from mid-morning to late afternoon on race day. The lowest section of the trail from the end of the pavement on Junction Creek Road to the intersection with the cutoff trail to the campground will not be part of the race course and will remain available for public use during the event. Race sponsors and participants will not be allowed to park vehicles at the Colorado Trailhead at the Forest Boundary so that parking will be available to the public.
