Ex junior world cup DH racer for Lapierre International and former Junior European champion Sam Flockhart is back at racing, but this time it’s ENDURO!. He took time out to study and set up his own mountain bike coaching business in Scotland and now he’s on the Enduro circuit racing the Scottish, Gravity and EWS enduro’s as an Elite rider. He’s got his sights set on getting some good results in 2015 and years to come with the hope of getting a factory ride in the future!

We had the chance to get up close and personal with Sam’s Mondraker:

Hydraulic brake cables are still to be replaced with bright green cables. Also from Uberbikes he will be running the finned brake pads in his Formula CR1 brakes that give a bite when you squeeze the index finger!

Sam loves his suspension soft and fast on most tracks. New fox 36's are amazing accompanied by a good rear shock which is also running soft and fast
Sam notes that every time he rides, he logs the settings of the suspension and tyre pressures so when he goes to different tracks, he can refer to the book to get a good starting point.

According to Sam, “Suspension set up on the front is usually soft and fast, but from time to time I change it for certain tracks, give the high speed, low speed and rebound a twist. Currently here at the EWS in Scotland I have set it a little softer and a little slower on the rebound.”

“I have a wee book when racing and riding where I log the settings of my suspension and tyre pressure so when I go to different tracks I can refer to the book to get a good starting point to set up the bike. The terrain and weather in Scotland can change so much so I like to change the bike to suit. Change my tyres, change the suspension, change the pressures in the tyres.”

We’re looking forward to see what Mr. Flockhart has to offer in the future. With his sights set high, we’re expecting good things from the young student!
