Design & Innovation Award 2015, Meet the Jury: Nico Lau
The highlight of the cycling industry calendar, the Design & Innovation Award 2015, is approaching fast. Our team is now packing up all the exciting products, ready to be ridden, tested and analyzed on the incredible trails of South Tyrol. Our mission is to award the world’s most innovative products and technologies, and joining us will be a select jury of six of the most skilled, influential, and analytical minds from the cycling industry.
Our forth jury member is widely thought of as the most skilled all-round rider in the world, and when the trails get tight and rooty this is the man that the entire field fears. A master of tight switchbacks and a king of technical trails, it is time to introduce Nico Lau
The 25 year old rider has been on the Cube Action Team since the very beginning, and the French MTB star showed his true potential at the end of the 2013 season, winning the Trans-Provence. But his finest hour was during the final round in Finale, Nico had built up a comfortable lead but then incurred an unfortunate one minute penalty for missing a check in time, after that he was on fire. Spectators standing in the sidelines on Stage Six saw something incredible as Nico exploded through the rocks at a suicidal speed. It was not enough to take the win, but all eyes were on Nico for 2014. This season Nico suffered with mechanicals and bad luck, but he did win the Tweedlove Enduro World Series event and gained multiple podium spots. He is certainly one of the world´s fastest Enduro riders.
Nico will be an essential jury member, his ability to push products further than any normal recreational rider will bring valuable insight into performance at the highest level. Nico has extensive experience of product testing and optimisation, and his skills and knowledge will be instrumental.
