EUROBIKE 2015 | LAPIERRE Spicy – Going Full Electro

Like many companies, Lapierre had already given us a glimpse of their new products at their pre-EUROBIKE press conference. However, unable to resist a wander to the French team’s stand, we were rewarded with a closer look at the new Spicy.
The Lapierre Spicy has changed much more than just its image since last year, as its rear travel has been increased to 165 mm and the bike now boasts a truly enduro-race nature. The two top-of-the-range models come with a carbon frame, while the most affordable has an aluminium frame. The chainstays and rocker arms on all of the models remain in aluminium.

The Spicy’s USP remains its e:i system, which Lapierre developed alongside RockShox to ensure that the rear shock is permanently in the optimal and most effective mode. The Spicy Team, Lapierre’s top model for 2016, exclusively features the e:i shock with the electronically controlled suspension system. While the mid-range model, the Spicy 527, allows the customer the choice of opting for the e:i system, the budget model, the Spicy 327, does not offer the technology.

All the models are kitted out with a 1×11 drivetrain and front derailleurs can be mounted on each. Coming in four sizes, the Spicy boasts revised geometry for 2016 with both the frame and the rear now longer than the previous year’s model. This should ensure that the bike rides comfortably along the ever-faster enduro racetracks.
