Alpinestars have a long history in mountain biking and have been pushing out some amazing dirt jump and moto gear for over 10 years. More recently they have been working with professional athlete Anneke Beerten to create some high performance womens clothing lines. Their Stella trail and enduro line is constructed to withstand the toughest, longest and fastest trails in the world, while bringing trail weight and performance.

We checked out their Stella Hyperlight shorts, Drop jersey and Paragon knee pads.

Stella Hyperlight Shorts

Price: € 79.99 / $ 74.95

The Stella Hyperlight shorts are specifically tailored for female fit and feature vented open mesh inserts across the thighs to enhance airflow within the shorts. We like the seamless seat area as it increases both the durability and comfort while riding. The fit is adjusted via a flat snap adjustment system which allows connection of an Alpinestars mesh lining.

Stella Drop Jersey

Price: € 49.99 / $ 54.95

The Stella Drop jersey offers a comfortable low neck construction, mixing lightweight materials and moisture wicking fabrics for optimum temperature control while riding. The extended chest and back mesh inserts enhance ventilation and an elongated lower back profile helps ensure a good fit. We like the addition of a terry cloth patch located on waist for cleaning eyewear and the side pocket features a multimedia compartment with internal headphone conduit to store your MP3 player or phone.

Paragon Knee Guard

Price: € 39.99 / $ 39.95

We have already reviewed the unisex Paragon Knee Pads and were really impressed. For trail riding where you just want minimal, comfortable protection while riding with your mates the Paragons are highly recommended. The breathable mesh knee sock provides excellent levels of breathability and comfort.

Our Impressions

In use the Stella range from Alpinestars feels light, airy and very high quality. We were really impressed with the lightweight fabrics and the attention to detail when it comes to fit. The shorts offer enough length, so they don’t ride above the knee on the bike (we wish more manufacturers would think about this) and have plenty of flexibility. The colours are strong without being garish and the gear looks to be designed for women without resorting to ‘gear for girls’ cliches.
