First Look | Prototype Bergamont En-core Enduro Race Bike

Bergamont has a long tradition with enduro race bikes, and currently their Trailstar bike which has been ridden to great success by Endura Bergamont Enduro Team riders Joseph Nation and Katy Winton, but they were keen to go a little bigger and bring in a bigger travel 160mm bike. At the recent Enduro World Series round in Scotland, Matthias Faber was racing an exciting new prototype bike, and we thought we best check it out.

The 27.5″ wheeled bike will be known as the The En-core and will be Bergamonts big hitting, aggressive enduro bike designed to take on the world’s toughest trails. Designed for aggressive trail riding and enduro racing, the long reach, low bottom bracket and slack head angle (a rowdy 65 degrees) should make the Bergamont a potent trail weapon. The reach is almost 20mm longer than most bikes of an equivalent size and is optimised for a short stem and wide bars. The bike features 160 mm of front travel and 165 mm at the rear and uses a Coax Pivot around the rear axle.

The En-core Team, En-core 9.0 and En-core 8.0 will make the three models of the bike, ranging from €3000.00 for the En-core 8.0, up to €4500.00 for the En-core Team, with the 9.0 plonking itself right in the middle of the bunch.

The Team-version will be equipped with an IRT (Infinity Rate Tuning)-equipped Manitou Mattoc Team, a Rock Shox Monarch Plus RC3 DebonAir, Avid Guide RS-Brakes, a Rock Shox Reverb-Seatpost and Sun Ringlé Charger Pro SL-Wheels.

The En-core 9.0 will come with a FOX 36 Float Performance-fork, a Rock Shox Monarch plus RC3 DebonAir, Magura MT5-Brakes, a KindShock LEV Integra-seatpost and Sun Ringlé wheels with Inferno 29-rims and Jumping Flea-hubs.

The En-core 8.0 will feature a Rock Shox Pike RC-fork, a Rock Shox Monarch DebonAir RT-shock, Magura MT4-brakes, a KindShock LEV Integra-seatpost and Sun Ringlé wheels with Helix TR27-rims and BGM Pro-hubs.
