First Look: The new Bergamont Trailster EX 9.0

The Hamburg-based company Bergamont has revised its lineup of full suspension bikes for the upcoming season and replaced its well-known model Threesome with the newly developed Trailster. The 150 / 140 mm bike is available in four equipment variants, two models focus more on long tour oriented riders, while the other two are more made for trail riders who are focused on the downhills. We have checked out the top model – the Bergamot Trailster EX 9.0.

Getting into the new Trailster Series starts from €2,000 and ends at €3,500. There are a total of four model,. the Trailster 6.0 and 8.0 with a 3×10 drivetrain and light components primarily aimed at tourers, the two other bikes EX 7.0 and EX 9.0 have a 2×10 or 1×11 drivetrain and descent-oriented features.
All bikes share the same aluminum frame with 140 mm rear travel and a 150 mm suspension fork on the front. The geometry can be described as modern, and features a long Reach (450 mm) and short chainstays (432 mm). The steering angle is 67°, quite standard for such a trail bike frame. The steep 75 ° seat angle promises good climbing characteristics.

The equipment of the Bergamot Trailster EX 9.0 looks consistent and well thought out. The guys at Hamburg chose high-quality RockShox suspension with Pike fork and Monarch Plus shock, SRAM Guide powerful brakes and Maxxis Ardent tires. A chainguide and the 1×11 drivetrain round out the package.

Our opinion:
Bergamont presents the new Trailster as a very interesting bike. Especially the top model EX 9.0, which has a great specification. It convinces with coherent, high-quality equipment at a fair price. We look forward to testing the bike extensively on the trails for you soon, to see if it delivers what it promises on paper. In addition, Bergamont has announced it will be involved in Enduro racing and create its own team, you may be curious to see what still awaits us in the future.
