On Saturday, 28.6.2014 and by best conditions, the extension of the legendary Hacklberg trail got officially opened. The new part of the popular Hacklberg Trail promises even more airtime and a lot of flow in Saalbach Hinterglemm.

Hacklberg Trail (Eroeffnung)

Ten kilometers of finest downhill fun: From now on mountain bikers will experience singletrail fun at its best in Saalbach Hinterglemm. The Hacklberg Trail is one of the most beautiful singletrails in the valley, it is known throughout Austria as the epitome of a flowing trail and now with a length twice as long as so far.

The new section begins at the Hacklberger Alm and extends to the middle station of the Westgipfel cable car. Combined with the existing Hacklberg Trail and the final Buchegg Trail you will experience around ten kilometers of downhill action spread over 1,000 meters of altitude difference. Whether experienced touring biker who defeats the mountain without the help of the cable cars or soul- and freeriders – the Hacklberg Trail it worth it to get up to the Westgipfel.

Designed for beginners in mind, the flowing Hacklberg Trail with its cool routing, all the small features and countless jumps attract beginners and professionals as well. An impressive view, lichen and moss-covered woods, wide alpine meadows and a flush of nature promise a high-class trail experience. Hungry and thirsty bikers have the opportunity for pleasant detours to one of the countless mountain huts and cottages on the Westgipfel, such as the Hacklberger Alm, Bergstadl, Westgipfelhütte or Gerstreit Alm.

The new trail is also part of the demanding BIG-5-BIKE Challenge, a XXL Freeride tour that covers 5 mountains with 5.000 “depth meters” around Saalbach Hinterglemm and Leogang.
