Maxxis has presented us with some very interesting news at Eurobike: The new Griffin downhill tyre and a lighter version of the EXO carcass for the well-known Shorty.

The Maxxis Griffin is completely new for next season. It is a downhill tyre for hard terrain. It come with plenty of small studs in order to reduce the rolling resistance. The tyre may be perfect for the downhill in South Africa or at the Enduro World Series final.

The tyre is available as a 3C MaxxGrip version or the Super Tacky compound and is priced at €54.90 (super tacky), or €69,90 EUR (3C MaxxGrip). It is available in a 26″ as well as in a 27,5″ version at 2,4″ width.

Last year Maxxis presented the Shorty as an alternative to the well-known Swampthing with a downhill carcass. It is perfect for loose earth – whether wet or dry – and comes with big studs and an open profile. Next season the Shorty will be available with the popular EXO carcass with all three sizes. The tyre is tubeless ready and comes with a 3C MaxxTerra rubber mixture. It will be priced at €69.90.
